On a Moke, which uses the same speedo, the Green Light at the top is the (low) Oil Presure Light.

My Moke has an orange light at the top....

Curious................

From page 8 of the Owners book

From one of my current Mokes and.............

From another.........

I have owned a lot of Mokes from between year models 1976 to 1981 and they have all been like these above. I believe these to be 'incorrect' as the colours beween the Indicators (which should be green) and the Oil Light (which should be amber) should be the other way around - like yours.

This might seem a little obvious but check it's not the dash illumination leaking behind the warning light. Inside the speedo there are little rubber cups to keep the illum. Light from leaking thru to the warning light. If that one has come loose then at night with the dash lights on it may appear to glow.

Also check someone has not put the bulb holders into the wrong spots on the back of the speedo which is easy to do.

I would say the green light at the top would normally be the blinker repeater but obviously it can vary over different cars

I would suggest there was a rule that there must be left and right repeaters for the indicators so they used the 2 orange lights and stuck the oil light at the top and never bothered to change the colours (cost) surprising though as green is not really a warning colour

would it be possible to change the lenses over?, ie make the orange ones green (for indicators) and the green to orange?

also, what was the set up on the Mk1 mini? or should i just get it changed (added) when i get a new loom made?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread...

Cheers

No, not crazy. The earlier ones (around the time of the metric speedos) where as yours is, but from your avitar pic, yours looks to be an early to mid 1979 model.

I am afraid to answer that. Why you ask??

From what i know of the car, it was a 1974 998 which has had the engine replaced with 1275 and disc front end. But then i love her so much i dont really care what she is.......

Don't be alarmed, IMO a good thing. The front Cali Bar mounts under the front panel rather than through it. These Bars (non-genuine) are available new.

How did we get here????? Isn't this about a little green man or something? Sorry Cooper Matrikon
