My question to Nick is, why do you need a LSD? Are you doing motorsport? or do you just like pissing money up against the wall?

Doogie

I agree, although I don't know why it matters why he wants one, or is this a strange way of saying they are not worth buying :?: and why wasn't the question directed at the others that want one. :?:

I guess Doogie is just asking as a LSD in road car is pain in the backside aaand unless you have tried to live with one in a road car just maybe you should think long and hard if you really need one, they are not for the feint hearted as they will do strange things at the most inapropreaite time and can make a normal driving roadie into a pure pain in tha backside to live with

People can buy and do what they like but be warned it sometimes pays to get some advice from those that have been down the path before

That's why he's buying a Quaif and not a LSD.

Agreed! I have a salisbury in my car (race car) and I think it is not a good idea for a road car at all. ATB will be easier on the road, but a good suspension set-up and four pinion diff is the way to go. That said, good luck with the group buy everyone, you can always try it and then sell them if they are not to your taste. If you get the opportunity to try one in someones car first, I would!

I think we are spliting hairs!

LSD limits the quantity of slide of the wheel that is trailing traction. Using this will give better traction going to the wheel with more grip.

ATB differential essentially has a set of worm gears inside use to lock up and exactly transfer torque to the wheel that has the most amount of grip.

The effect is similar.

thanks Owen mabe i should of said that I tried a quaife ATB last month in a KAD twinky powered car. it was put in after the salsbury was found to be to agressive for road use and the Quaide is a little better but still pulls the car all over the road just when iit does not need it, not a relaxing drive but it is trying to deliver 180HP to the road

Doogie

it's a ATB and they are not the same as a LSD & yes i have driven both.

under normal driving conditions it felt the same as my mini was cruising.

don't bother talking utter crap, and don't bother to reply if you want to make the usual cocky wally comment ''do you just like pissing money up against the wall?''

the ATB is a Gear driven diff not a plate driven diff like the LSD.
the ATB is a straight fit, but most other LDSs require the case to be machined.

Now i'm trying to hard to get people a deal. i'm calling uk to talk to the guys work it all out emails. it takes time.

i have got a good discount.

if we have 10 buyers it will be £470 pounds + £50 postage or maybe less if we can get a deal. and yes below the tax fresh hold. =$899 landed

at the moment with 5 buyers it is 485 pounds + 50 postage = $927 landed.

they sell for £634.50 on the website not even including postage so a huge discount.

so 4 more to go, who is in?

The benefits and characteristics of the Quaife ATB Limited-Slip diff are well documented.

i would say 180hp would have something to do with it :)

Hi. I'm a new member and I would like to know if anything ever happened with this bulk buy deal? Is it too late to get in? Thanks.

I bought mine just after the group buy ended but I still got a great price. Might be worth contacting Swiftune direct. Just a thought.
