"4. Traffic slows down"

Unfortunately many many times, idiots, esp those who hare in 3 tonne 4WDs speed up because they see a mini and instantly think it's soooo slow even though I am right on the speed limit. Many times they just have to overtake to show you who's king of the road and almost cause accidents to do it.

These days I simply slow down even more and let them pass, if they can catch me to begin with

wheres the ALL OF THE ABOVE option.

having travelled the outback quite extensively.

1. People on the street look and point
every time i drive anywhere in Alice this happens, especially japenese, europeans and english people

2. Onlookers in cars or from the street
Goes with number one. Im one of a handful of minis in the outback.

3. People take photos
All the bloody time, especially when i park in the work carpark which is frequented by tourists.

4. Traffic slows down
I hate this one, unless their slowing down and i can zip in front of them :D

5. Traffic stops
If im parked in the main street, sometimes this happens, they point and giggle, because its not a 4wd.

6. Police pull you over just to get a better look
SA Police, happened quite a few times. QLD Police kicked the tyres, made me panic and then asked to pop the bonnet stating i had one of these when i was a teenager. NT Police to stir the crap out of me for fun. Although they dont do this anymore because ive been here a while.

Arent minis fun.

Cryptic

My 5 year old use to point out old VW bugs and call them Minis. "Like your car daddy" she would say all the time. No doubt I took her to the garage more often to show her there are distinct differences.

Yep I have had those experiences too.

Usually people driving 4WDs, Commodores or Falcons. They usually push you out of the way, quite literally. After I started driving my wive's larger car, no such problem.

The old adage that you are what you eat ... in this case, drive, is correct. Lots of people who buy oversized vehicles do so not because they need them large, but because they feel personally inadequate and feel they need lots of metal to make them feel better about themselves. Large cars imply aggression, power and confidence.

That is why I like persons who drive Minis. Small, practical and unpretentious.

My MG 1100 doesn't have the "X" factor Minis have so I get the old codgers,
the occasional middle age lady and Asians....Asians really seem to go for it.
Oh yes... my son got pulled over by a young blond police lady doing breathlyser and
commanded him "Don't you ever sell this car. This car is a chick magnet"
Certainly doesn't work for me.

Nearly was going to say the "right polarity to be a chick magnet" but that would have a double meaning to all grubby minds on ausmini.
But I am definitely an out-of-the-closet hetro.

You needed an option for people who come up to you to talk about mini's.
Every time I go to town atleast one person will come up for a chat.
Nearly everyone "had a mini once"...
