My brother and I saw a '64 dodge phoenix near our place. We talked to the owner (who was a middle-aged bloke, and another hoarder like this), who told us it wasn't for sale. He was going to paint it black and paint flames up the sides...

A couple of years on, it's still there out in the weather, rusting.

Ahh so you think it is the same car too Mini Maxx?

I was always going to ask the owner if they wanted to sell, and when I finally did, she was gone :-(

Well... If it is the same car, at least it has a

slight chance of resurrection.

I've received a few PM's as to the location of the cars but sorry out of respect for the owner I won't be saying so please don't ask.

As I said in my post I would very much doubt anything would be for sale. I didn't even bother asking myself.

Is he an idiot? The guy has a paddock full of cars that nobody wanted. If they weren't here they would have been scrapped long ago.

And I don't think all people like this keep things so others can't have them.

They keep them because they want too, he enjoys owning them. As we moved from car to car he could tell me all about them and their history etc. He kept saying he regretted them out in the weather (and there were many others that were under cover).

Regarding the hightop van I'm pretty sure it had Wagga or Albury on the door.

He 'regrets' leaving them in the weather, yet he won't sell them to someone who could have saved them.....they might as well have gone to the crusher to begin with then (other than for curiosity). What an absolute shame! I remember watching a similar hoarder with two Cooper 'S's rotting in a paddock. He too refused to sell them until the Council gave him a clean up notice. By which time the floors were stuffed in both of them.

Yes, I think people should keep this in perspective......He would have got most of this stuff for nothing. At the time they would have gone off to the wreckers or the scrappies. He would have been thought of as an "idiot" wanting to take it home. It's only with the passing of many, many years people see any sort of value in them.

Good point, but its still a shame he won't sell (or fix up) anything before they are completely unsalvageable, now their value has risen.
