Well yes, maybe, no.

Who knows?

Unless you had a standard Cooper S to put on the dyno you used on the same day with the same conditions you can't say for sure. While the number 53 is higher than what is generally accepted as an at the wheels count for a Cooper S you can't categorically state that your car has 53 HP.

As said previously there are differences in dynos, tying down etc etc that all contribute to different readings on different dynos, on different days etc.

Where the dyno is good is for taking a reading, making a change and taking a reading again etc etc. This way the before and after changes can be compared.

What is good to look at on any dyno chart though is the shape, does it have spikes so narrow power bands or is it linear for instance :?:

i was on the same wavelength on the discussed points, just wanted to ask the question.

thanks everyone for your input. when the engine is going again i will at some point dyno again and see what the result is, corrected :lol:

The other useful thing about dyno plots is they can (usually) be set up to show the A/F ratio, under load, as well as HP. This trace is more useful than a torque trace as it is hard to get A/F figures on the road.

Here's Barney's, for example. 1293A+, twin HS4s, Wade/Tighe 104 cam, Toyota Corolla 1.46 rockers.
