Many thousands of miles travelling in North America on 10" wheels/tyres...no issues, except that softer rubber will be seen to have worn, whereas hard...maybe not.

[Yokie GX 501 165x70x10 and A008 165x70x10]

No they won't! The total circumference with 12's is almost identical to 10's, you're running lower profile rubber.

Go the 10's, they'll be more comfortable (and cheaper to replace ;) )

There's about 20mm difference between the 10's on my 850 and the 12's on my van so I might notice a bit of difference if the 10's would fit. How much I don't know but.

Give them both a run and if the rpm is similar I'd go the 10's for comfort.

yea i think this might be a good idea. May main concern is, i want comfort, but I also don't want tyres that follow the ruts in the road, and drag me along. I also don't partically want things that are like ice in wet weather. Considering the van has over 50hp atw, I'd prefer to have something that will pull me along, rather than spin.. if that makes sense.. I've had my sime tyres on the 12's in the wet on it, and you can't take off without going all over the road...

I had one 10" Yokie 501 spin at 60 mph on the Trans Canada Hwy. east of Banff, Alberta in heavy rain with a lot of standing water on the road. I'd pulled out to pass another vehicle and the left front wheel hit a water filled rut...

Just over 37 hp at the wheels...sheesh.

My advice, be ready in heavy rains.

ATM I'm running low budget 165/60/12R Sime's.

The fronts are now balded as a badger and the rears not much better so I'll be upgrading soon in preparation for the Mini50 show in NSW.

The Sime's are a good every day runner and wear quite well but can be a bit hairy in the wet when pushed.

What diff are you running in your van?

I know mine struggles to do 100km/hr on the highway. Hope you've got different gearing to me or it'll be a long trip!

I'd take 12's, just for the extra diameter.

I've got a conversion in mine. 5 speed box, highway roads are not a problem with this thing. 8) Sits on the highway in 4th @ 110 doing nothing more than3.5- 4rpm. Accelerate away and change into 5th and you've got plenty more reving and go left to do. In 5th sits at about 3ish - 4ishrpm. So no worries there.. :)

Bastard.

That's not the true mini experience!

I've seen 110km/hr in mine. Downhill, with a tailwind.

I've had my fair share of A series brake downs on the long highway routes I've done thank you  and so I had enough of the over heating and gearbox issues, (one of my gearboxes droped the layshaft @110km, and well that was interesting, stoped me pretty fast...

So the conversion is my daily and long distance car plus work car, and bluey with my A series 1380cc is my show car and only driven for pleasure nowadays :)
