I remember all those mokes, they sat out in a yard at Berrimah for years for all to see. They had little value at that point, but didn't that change!

I think its great news these ones are coming up on the market rather than getting crushed.

I have a bunch of pics of a "typical" rental Moke - taken when my Daughter and I hired one last year. The "useable" ones were all pretty much of a standard - and in excellent condition.

There were also a large number of fixer uppers and a bunch of wrecks and "part sets".

They didn't mind me taking pics of the rental cars but became quite grumpy when i tried for a few shots of the parts stockpile.

How do I post pics??

Cheers, ian

Catch the bus.... or (I assume) the hire co has replaced the Mokes with custom made Japanese convertibles. I think they were Dihatsus (sp??)- or somesuch that have been top-chopped locally. Last year they had more of them - and they were cheaper than a Moke - but my Daughter insisted on a proper ride:)

Cheers, Ian

I'd expect a decent one to go for around 2000k to 4000k. the normal market price is around 5000 and up so hopefully a heap on the market at once will bring the price down for the auction.
To bad for me it's too far away and on a week day, saves me some money I guess.

He said they had changed all the 1275s out because the tourists flogged them by chugging up the hill in 4th all the time. I'm guessing the parts bin may included a few clapped out (but potentially rebuildable) motors. Maybe not though. He didn't say what they had done with them when they changed them.

In other words, some of the galv ones that are 998s may have been 1275s.

Who's got a big twuck? They are on the mainland - Bohle....guess you can bid online if you registered.....

Would love to get a good moke...at a good price (so the missus won't get TOO angry)

Following this saga with keen interest.......

Although a nice going Moke would be nice I'd settle for a good shell - no or minimal rust
