On an aside, years ago filled my LB Lancer with unleaded at a BP station. Car conked out 200m up the road. NRMA came and found water coming out of the fuel line. Asked where I had filled up and when I told him "down the road" he said to get onto it as there had been many other cars with the same problem.

Walked back to the servo and complained. Finally (took a while!) got them to ok getting the fuel system cleaned out but had to sign a release that I would not take further action or claim any more money.

Got the guys at the radiator place across the road to do it and got the bill paid by the servo.

Weeks after the car conked out again - clowns hadn't changed the paper element in the fuel filter and it clogged up. Fixed that myself.

Sucks big time - feel your pain!

has to be the Local Dr
Looks like the Seven Hills & Merinda road (Old Ampol) is being rebirthed with new tanks.
The crap fuel & E10 seems to work in the new cars but I'd like to see what happens to them in 2 years time

Surprisingly little, with efi and automatically adjusting timing theyll go. More emissions and not as green but the average owner wont notice the difference.

They just deny everything, and call you a liar.

[edit] I reckon we need a name and shame file to highlight these charlatans.
Where is the Dept of Weights and Measures (or acronym equivalent), they used to keep these bastards honest.

Don't complain to the servo. They are console operators who couldn't care less whether you just bought a tank of water or a tank of fuel. They dont give a sh*t.

Accidents DO happen at service stations, and if its a woolworths caltex they would have no idea they had dodgy fuel if you bought some. If they knew, then their bowsers would have been out of order. Tanker driver could have put E10 into premium tank, as if theres going to be a mistake it going to be the delivery driver.

It wasnt from the terminal, as I haven't heard a single word of problems with contaminated fuel. When there is something like that, EVERYONE hears about in the supply chain, as it is a MAJOR incident at a terminal.

We have had 8000+ diesel put into a ULP tank, we have had a breather pipe break off (due to some dickhead drunks) and it rained and tank get 2500 litres of water in it...anything can happen.

I would suggest getting in contact with the operator of the site if it damaged your car, if not, then it is good to advise the site that their fuel is contaminated, as unless a customer says something then they don't know.

98 Octane unleaded is the same colour as 91 Octane, so how the hell do you know what your buying?

Because a Caltex trying to pull that stunt would lose their Caltex branding if they were caught.

And how would anyone know you ask ?

Becase there are people at Caltex who watch sales volume at sites and what is coming out of the terminal. If there are discrepencies, they are looked into.

Whatever this fuel was, it managed to swell the SU's jet hose shut, that's why it didn't GO. The rekitted HS6 carby has only been on the car a couple of weeks.
I'm with Morris 1100, the jet hose in Fuel Miser's SU repair kits apparently won't stand current fuels...

45 Dellorto is now back on, and it's going like a rocket again.

RACV did some milage comparison tests with various premium fuels and BP95 gave the best economy at the time.
I've tried comparison tests with ULP and Premium in a Magna work car when i was driving back and forth to Bendigo (400k's one way) and found no difference in $/K's.
I too have been down the road of a Mini that would only run on 50/50 Super/AVgas, pain in the bum for a road car. Current "play" car only runs on Premium, gets expensive.
When the Clubman is back on the road it'll be running on ULP, "hot" cars are fun but are not practical for day to day living.

aha!!!!!!!!!!,,,, i never ever liked them & i just refuse to use them :-)

anyways,,, there you go ,,, glad i stuck to my guns & keep using the original TK6000 & TK6001 jets (even tho they changed the o-ring to a square-edged type)

but still,,, on another note,,, i didn`t mean to say to ask for your money back from the servo,,, i meant a letter of complaint with results of said sample tested .. to the fuel company

But still,,, glad to hear you sorted the problem Doc

Missing, farting, pinging...
I had to siphon it all into jerrycans and stick it in the AU Fraud...
Didn't notice any water on the strainer, but it doesn't smell right.
[edit] Runs OK in the Ford so I reckon it's probably E10.

This was from my local Caltex/Woolies, where I've filled up for years.

NO MORE Caltex or Shell Premium for my Mini, I'll stick with BP, thanks.
It might be dearer, I don't care what it costs any more.

This local servo wouldnt happen to be large, green and on Vardys road would it?

I just put a full tank of premium 98 in my clubby from there this morning..
I also used their air pump, and my leaky tire is already going down.
i smell a rat.

Here in little Adelaide i find the best fuel in the Liberty servos, Caltex sells purple fuel which is not advertised as E10 but i like it and i just learnt that green fuel is for planes, it has lead.

I have never yet had issues with contaminated fuel, so now it will probably happen...

Nope not Vardy's Rd, but I got a bad fuel load there once too, years ago.
This one is on Abbott Rd, near Hungry Jacks.
