i just got a diahatsu charade alt for 15$ how would u guys wire it up?

So you confirmed that your old alternator is U/S didnt you?

Have you taken the old one out yet? If not, I have a few suggestions.

1. Get the battery charged up with a charger.

2. Hook it up, switch the car's accessories on. The battery shouldn't spark when you attach it - if it does, the diodes in the alternator are worn or wearing out. Both the charging and oil lights should be on before you start the engine. If the charging light is not on, check the charging light plug on the alternator, and the charging bulb on the dash. If either of these don't work, the alternator will not charge.

3. Start the car, and check that the charging light turns off (as well as the oil light). If it doesn't, it will most likely be the alternator, the alternator plugs, or the engine grounding strap.

the old one is out and the new one is in ... the battery light was on all the time
