Stick the damn thing in the boot, you are going to get out of the car anyway. It is a good place to disconnect the battery too.

Doesn't work for a Renault
Leaves himself open for Morris1100 to say something like just let it burn

So is the engine that valuable that you can't stick it in the crumple zone? (when the inevitable happens at least you have a motor to sell)

You better take a look at http://forums.autosport.com/index.php?s=e0f550ae3ebb23231c1c96fbb5c7b1c9&showtopic=140799

I haven't got round to doing them on the Mini yet but I'll probably do something like this.

This is how I have mounted the fire extinguishers on my Porsche. There is a cross bar mounted to the seat runners and then a front plate that holds the extinguishers. The foam blocks under the extinguishers just dampen vibrations.

For the Mini it is probably easy to fabricate a mounting that uses the seat mounting brackets on the cross beam.

Re the earlier posts:

1. CAMS rules say the driver must be able to reach the extinguishers whilst sitted.

2. First rule - get out of car - then put out fire.

3. Fire will need to be attacked at point of combustion, which will most likely not be the cabin in any event. No good pointing extinguisher at flames it needs to be at point of ignition.

4. CAMS now require a 2kg extinguisher OR 2 x 1kg. 2 x 1kg probably better in case of a malfunction in one.

Good luck. Let me see the final photo of what you do :D
