I restored my MK1 Cooper S from a write off for just on 8K, most of that was on body work at mates rates.

My wife's immaculant litte clubman owes us 3K

The MK2 Cooper S is about 4K so far, but i have almost everything for it brand new.

Our van is about to get painted, so it's only 1K purchase price, and $100 for bead blasting so far, i expect it will cost no more than 3K on the road.

I do it by trading parts, doing barter deals etc etc, there are a lot of people out there to do it with.

They cost as much as you want the to.

I think that if you think of your Mini as a car well then you can spend too much.
I love Minis and they are more than just a car to me. What price do you put on a car that you LOVE driving. What price is fun and enjoyment?
My first car was a Mini, I spent many thousands but with every dollar that I spent I found a new kind of enjoyment from my car.
Now I have a group Nb race car, cost more than 30 grand to build from a bare shell, I did all of the work myself except for the building of the motor and gearbox because I was inexpeirnced in building race engines. Why would I spend 15 to 20k on engine parts to have it explode?
Everything else was built by me (note Makka) oops no the paint was done by a back yard bloke.
I reckon if I sold it tomorrow I'd only get 15 to 20k for the entire race car.
As I said, what price is fun?

Like it has been said... Only spend what you can afford, if it keeps the food off the table then you are a bloddy dick!! A car is never complete, there is always somethin to add or upgrade, which in turn adds to the $$ factor..
I have been told i have spent way to much on my mini and its not even close to being on the road.. I could have bought say a 200sx and turned it into a 10 sec car with the amount of money i have spent on my mini
And am i worried about the amount of money i have spent on it no.. But it would have been nice if crap was a hell of alot cheaper for mini's, its like they see the "mini" in fornt of it and ohh yay lets tripple the price.....

like most peopel have said on here, spend the money while you have it, on something worthwhile and soemthign u will get enjoyment out of. I spent as much as i sold my last mini for but this one, it still remains to be seen. it is a perosnal thing tho with minis, unlike the common day cars, where u spend big bucks and get nuthign for it when u sell it, so as chief wiggum says

'i say if it feels good do it'
