Yes, thanks for your concern. I too was worried about the high volts. The battery water was very low when I checked it this morning.

It should all be sorted by the auto electrician.

You should remove the battery and wash out the battery box. The corrosive fumes given off be the battery will eat the paint.

My big brother had a Mazda that had a lot of alternator problems over the years. When it was overcharging he only noticed a problem when the paint started peeling off the corner of the bonnet and the drivers electric window motor burned out. He did notice that the window was winding up quicker than usual!

So I rang the auto electrician today (2 days after he said he'd call me). Says the diodes are stuffed and is trying to get new ones.

Turns out the business has a new owner, the old guy owned a mini and always had mini appropriate stock (he also knew about service).

Well, all is fixed and I own the new owner an appollogy, he was a very nice guy.

In the end there was only one dead diode. He fixed it up and refused any payment until I tested it. So I got home put it all back together and it still didn't work.

So I decided to start testing everything again. Eventually I found that the wire had a break in it. and when there was a load on the wire it would break down. All fixed now.

I rang the auto electrician, told him what it was, asked how much I owed him and he refused to be paid. What a good bloke.

Also, it turns out that he is very very busy and went home sick the other day and that is why he didn't call. He was very appollogetic.

Well if you aren't going to pay buy him a carton of beer or something just to remind him that nice things can happen to nice people. Sometimes it's not all about money but recognition of a job well done or the greatest appreciation for something..
