She's out, finally. Took the easy way, purchased these http://www.autotools.com.au/catalogue/product.php/1/ATB7100 and a engine load leveler. Once engine at the required height was able to move it from side to side by crankng the load leveler handle. I should have listen to GT mowog http://www.toolworks.com.au/ let me down big time. Auto tools were great delivered in three days.

Fantastic feeling to get the engine out, thanks for everyones advice. Now have to speak with the engine rebuilder. That steps out of my league and want a professional job.

Cheers,

Dave

As Morris1100 says, just drilling holes instead of welding a hoop will also work.

Yep that's what I made and use too, very good.
And yes the engine leveler tool is a good investment aswell.

The problem with that particular tool shop is that they are sometimes......sometimes open and sometimes not........they don't have opening hours......

I just use a short length of 1/2" Chain between 2 head studs. If you were to buy it, might cost as much as 5 bucks.

1/2" is the gauge of the chain - yes ?

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure how chain size is measured, but a 1/2" shackle goes though the links OK and I did manage to find one that has long links, so the end link goes over the stud and the rest of the chain from that link can move free. Use a decent washer with it or one of the latest flanged head nuts.
