He was asking 12K as a cooper S, no idea what he wants now Ive told him its not an S. Did come with a spare mk2 engine, dunno what flavour the box in it is.

I think he genuinely thought it was an S.

If you say so....... willy, At least ive still got a rare car with some nifty little bits on it, and it will be enjoyed and raced. But im going to try and clean up the shroud and look around the body for more numbers. Due to current circumstances i havnt seen the car in about 3 months. So willy i think your comment in the other thread about me refusing to give photos completly out of line, you do not know my current circumstances and if you are that interested in why i havnt been able to then PM me beacause the car is not the most important thing in the world........... So just drop it, if you want to ask about it then ask in my thread, not have a go at me in a different thread (like im doing now).

Yikes....

Or he just pretended to believe it was so that the buyer thought it was also!

It's got a "S" badge on it and before I joined the forum I would've got sucked in.
I know a guy who was into minis in small way and he genuinely thought he had a Cooper S motor, I acquired the motor about the same time as i joined the forum. But I was informed by ausmini members it was a thin flange 1100s motor, so it was even better. 8) I was talking about it to the former owner of the motor, and he said that's what the previous owner had told him.
And of course there have been experienced mini people on this forum sucked in.
I'm prepared to give the owner the benefit of the doubt and he probably feels very disappointed right now.

Yes, I think many replicas have passed thru lots of owners hands over the years without them ever knowing they did not have the genuine article.

Carter try not to derail threads please.
This thread is about the S in question, not yours. Please PM this sort of reply to willy in the future.

Please remember the Rules

Yes, but you began the offtopic discussion, so willy was merely replying to the thread, which you diverted.

In other news:

That's really sad if the guy actually thought it was an S, and now knows it doesn't.
Can't imagine how gutted you would feel :S

S or not, it's a damn nice mini.

So was the sunvisor standard on 71 cooper S and an option on 71 mini K's?

It's a standard BMC accessory and was always an option. They were fitted to most Police Minis (indeed most NSW Government fleet Minis) in the NSW GMG, not by BMC.

I feel sorry for this guy if he genuinely thought it was real and now knows that it isnt. :(

That said, I also hope he now accurately represents this as a replica and does not continue to refer to it as a genuine car.
