yeah you should be fine. everyone says that such a small engine is terrible on the freeway, but that is only if it is in poor health or it is a really long trip (minis on the murray...), but if your engine is healthy and if you break up really long trips you will be fine.

As for the other things, thats just annoying, i know i had great trouble trying to find an old set of wheels with good tred..........oh no i didn't, my nieghbour has a pile of about 10 in his backyard, 22 if you count the ones on/in the minis and the two on the boat trailer :D

To fill out the wheels that much do you have spacer drums on the back cause if you do you might be able to take off the spacer drums and put on some of the usual drums to get it past rego then you can do what you like. Probably means you will have to adjust up your rear brakes though.

Just a thought if you have some brake drums around as spares, might be easier to find than the wheels.

Re: the spare tyre.

Take it out. There's nothing in a RWC that says you need one.

FWIW, I strapped mine down with a rachet-type strap, fixed to 2 u-bolts either side of the tyre. Ain't goin' nowhere.

before you remove your fuel tank i believe you can pull the whole light assembly out from the outside of the car, thereby accessing the wires at the back.

if your mini has been looked after properly it shouldnt give any problems on the freeway, they're real cars not just toys.

Heat - Try getting your rad flushed, it shouldn't overheat just 'coz its little.

Wheels - I'd try the different wheels before you change the drums- They need different short wheel studs, too.

Spare wheel - I dont think you can just leave it out. Try welding a Mk1 bracket to the floor - then its there for good, not just a rego patch, but more permanent. Always a good idea to tie 'em down.

yeh i agree. if ur car is overheating fluch the coolign system out and get the radiator out and get it professionally flushed. i got mien done today adn it was 60% blocked. alogn with the heater which was 100% blocked, i have found the reason of overheating.... good luck man. mine went over the pits last week adn onbly failed becasue the brakes pulled to the right. once new pads were put in the front she was a dream!
