Do not under estimate the mess opening blasting makes, It will get everywhere!

If you have any precision machinery like mills or lathes with exposed beads a piece of garnet will ruin those too.

Ive been there done that with the home job. Just go with a pro blaster for big stuff.

When Anton restored the Clubby GT, he started out sandblasting some big stuff on his lawn with a bucket siphon, in a tent... the dry sand was from Bunnings.
When finished he packed the tent up and hosed the sand in.
Just a thought- it might work OK for subframes etc.

Be careful though- breathe much sand dust in and you can die from silicosis. If you must do it, wear a cartridge filtered mask.

I've got one of those cheap SCA sandblasting air blower set up's. You stick the pipe in a bucket of sand (raided from the sand pit and sived clean). I do some open air blasting on small items, it gets everywhere and you need to wear a full face shield.
I've also made my own blasting booth out of an old fridge on a table frame and a piece of perspex cut into the door/lid, I also folded up a pyramid funnel and put that in the bottom to catch the old sand. It still needs work like sealed gloves and a dust "clearing" system but it works so long as you have the space to store it.
When I blasted my engine I set up a tarp tent around it and that worked quite well.
Also sand blasting will eat away concrete but it doesn't touch rubber  .
If you want to buy something get a good booth with a light and a extraction system, do the super big things in the padock.
