Good idea but...

If you had a medium nose to tail accident that damaged the alternator and starter solenoid breaking the circuit your doors would all pop open. Which is great until the pill popping concrete truck driver does not see the acccident in front of him and dates you at 60 while your doors are open.
I think that a mini would be far safer in a big impact if the doors were closed rather than open.
I guess that this must be the case as the 'flapper' handles came to be with the introduction of 'burst proof' locks in 1971.
I can see the look that you are trying to acchieve but feel that the 'shaved door popper' look should be left to the 'trailer queen' show cars.

It would be quite simple to wire them so that they only stay closed while the electrical system is working, that way they would just pop open following a crash. :)

Someone tried to break into my old Deluxe once. The ripped the whole door handle off trying to force it. Then they were really screwed because even I couldn't get in without a door handle.

Its pretty easy to come up with many situations where an unmodified mini couldn't be opened by a helpful bystander after an accident. Likewise, it would be possible with imagination and skill, to design an electromechanical release system with inbuilt fail safes that would release a door after an accident.

Doors are overrated anyway, I usually just leave mine rolled up in their bag in the back.
