Crikey!

I thought this was a simple question and somewhat embarassed  to ask it.

See Grasshopper, not all that is known is known. :!: :!: :!:

I am gonna get to the bottom of this even if I have to use a weighbridge.

From the BMC Australian Mini handbook from 1967..
Weight Kerbside (full tank)....
Mini Minor -1390lb (630kg)
Mini Van - 1350lb (612kg)
De Luxe - 1435lb (650kg)
Moke - 1867lb (846kg) This is way out!
Cooper S - 1411lb (640kg) This has to be wrong as the Cooper S is heavier than the Deluxe.

From the Australian Clubman Handbook from 1971...
Registration Weight (fuel, 2 gallons (9.1litres)
Mini 1100 - 1352lbs (614.5kg)
Mini 1100 Van - 1352lbs (614.5 kg)
Mini Clubman - 1418lbs (643kg)
Clubman GT 1496lbs (678kg)

From the Australian Workshop manual...
Full tanks... (with 2 gallons in brackets)
850 630kg (618kg)
Cooper 635kg (622kg)
Deluxe 652.4kg (638.32kg)
Matic 676.9kg (661.93kg)
Clubman 657.3kg (643.23kg)
Cooper S 716kg (663.63kg)
Clubman GT 709kg - (678.5kg)

The weights are all over the place, the difference between full and 2 gallons is very different on the Cooper S and the GT.

BTW, if I found that the state Government was overcharging me on my rego I wouldn't be waiting till the renewal, I would be straight down there tomorrow and demanding a refund on all the previous years over payments.
You don't need a weighbridge certificate, they have the weights in their books.

I'll take mine to the local waste depot tomorrow and while asking some dumb questions I’ll have a peak at the weigh bridge display...

ha!!! i weighed my Green "S" years ago, accurate race scales & it came in at 820kgs

my lightweight Targa Tassie Rally mini came in at 620kgs

some of the std-ish 850 minis that we have weighed in the past came in at just under 700kgs-ish

so,,, "facts" in the books are not the same as the "Real Facts"

some figures you may read are without battery, fuel, water, oil etc

Oh & then there`s the old """mini vans & mokes are the lightest"""" ,,, yeah right.

I guess this is the reality..
Half a tank of fuel, coolant, oil, car stereo, spare wheel, non standard rims, tyres, washer bottle for that matter bla bla bla...

if you wanted to write a low figure in a book you could take a lot out...

But in reality 655 kg (ish) is where I’m at.

if of course their scales are correct 8)

Pretty sure my 1990 Rover came in at 680kg and it had a weighbridge ticket for getting Blue Slipped.
