Glad I could help.
With the age of mini's it is hard to find ones that aren't customised in some way.
Every owner adds their piece to the puzzle, ergo character.
Nothing unfortunate in that.
By the way kermit looks good in green.
Cheers.

I am grateful for the help. Yeah i understand that and i hope to one day restore an original mini but thats not on the cards at this time. Yeah i agree that most people do there own thing to there cars and i have certainately done just that. But I made the car to be fun and just to be happy cruising around in it. I've wanted a mini for a long time and im close to finally finishing mine :). If i can work out how to post pics i might show from the day i got her.
Thanks again :D

Pics would be great.
It's really an inspiration to everyone when they get to see a project come together. Kinda like a light at the end of the tunnel to those like me with a project waiting in the wings to be reborn.
There's a how to on posting picture's in the gallery section and a couple other guides have been posted if you search.
It's not hard to link to pics once you join a site like photobucket to host them.
Good luck with rest of your build and look forward to seeing the results.
Rob

The 850's have an uncut front apron aswell which I think looks awesome. They are also lighter when the doors have the sliding windows.
I love 850's, I'm planning to keep my 850 looking fairly original... apart from the 1380 of course

I don't understand why they made the 850 so different to the rest?

The 850 was the original Mini. All those that followed were variations on the original idea.
The Deluxe was the first proper Australian Mini with very high local content to meet the new regulations that started in 1965 (actually the regulations were already in force but the government finally decided to enforce them!).

They couldn't keep building the 850 and came up with the Deluxe which increased the local content and made some improvements that the public really wanted. The main improvements were a bigger engine, wind up windows and hydrolastic suspension.

Oh, back to the original question, I think it is a late 62/early 63 car.
I am not the expert on 850 build dates so I am only guessing. But it is far too low a number for a 65 car.
By 65 they would have been in the high 50,000's.
