Yeah, it will work.

Max chickens on that gauge is 58 PSI (@400Kpa). It would work fine, but the needle would spend most of its day at max deflection.

I'm guessing perhaps its a standard smiths oil pressure gauge with 100 KPAs screen printed instead of PSI.

Ok. So what type of sender does it nneed.does it need to be specifically designed to work with smiths gauges?

You would probably have to measure the resistance across the gauge.
Also I seem to recall having a smiths electric gauge in my old mini that the VDO sender seemed to give odd (low) Oil pressure readings. I replaced it with a genuine smiths sender (exxy) and all was good.

With the right senders in place, I never had any trouble with electric oil or temp gauges. I run electric gauges in other (non-mini) cars I own with no issues.

It looked like a capillary gauge to me...?

The capillary tube for a mech. oil gauge should be pretty cheap? (Cheaper than getting a new elec sender?) It's just a tube with the locking nuts on them.

Yea, its an electric one . If I cant find a suitable sender cheap, I will just get a new pipe for my mechalical one. I just thought it might be a little simpler if I could just put in an electric gauge.
