Emailing and asking where they're from is all well and good, but doesn't tell me much about their quality..

Only lets me guess they're good or horrible, depending on where they're made

Someone has to have bought this kit and can tell if they're rubbish or not

Sorry I haven't bought a whole kit but I've been through this with UK part suppliers for individual brake bits.

One example: one of the big parts players has (did at the time) three different listings for an 8.4" drive flange, ranging from 15 pound each to 50, and no descriptive listing for the difference.

I emailed to check but basically there was a cheap variant made of cheese, a genuine part (perhaps leftover stock or still made where the original were) and a new made one in uprated material.

In the case of these drive assemblies, that'll be the difference in calipers, that is unless the cheap set are refurbished old ones done in house. If they are and they've been plated, check to see if bits are de-embrittled or the likes.

if you are sending an email ask if you can have the ap ones for the original price, (it is worth a shot) they used to be 558.32 pounds

I brought this kit from Mini Spares

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx? ... 121&title=

Very happy with it. It has been on since August this year. Everything fitted together and bolted up fine. Only problem I had was there was not enough shims for the ball joints.

Good enough for me.
This kit is due to be ordered any day now.
How good are the included instructions?

I have the same kit on one of my cars.
I'm still looking to hear from someone with the cheaper minisport branded calipers, instead of the mystical genuine AP calipers

I haven't got my set on the road yet but initial impressions are.

On one of the ball joints I needed to make up a 70 thou spacer to make it work, It was the last one I did so unfortunately I couldn't measure to see if it was the ball joint or the calipers that where short.

Other than that they seemed well made, No obvious casting irregularities and all the parts fit together well. I havent even had fluid in them yet so this is as far as I can comment.
