Steve,
You really want it mounted up where the water is hot- the only point of a switch down below is to turn an electric fan on.
If all else fails, ypu could solder a brass fitting to the radiator top tank (which is brass also). Or TIG weld a fitting on there if using an alloy rad.

i have alloy adaptor plates for the sender to go into the heater take-off point at the back of the head if you`re interested?

i`ll get a pic of them shortly

Matt, it's actually a later model A+ one which has the take-off on quite a steep angle compared to the housing. (tangent)
But essentially the same thing & serves the same function.

As for the Mt Stromlo DH thing, I have been up there a few times and you can't grab a coffee because of all these smelly, lycra wearing treadlie people infesting the little cafe!! and another thing!!! :lol: We have more than enough DHs down here!!
