Don't forget to check what, if anything, Vicroads want you to do for registration. This is on top of whatever else you need to do for importing it.

Hi mate, just had a quick look at the Personal Import site and not much has changed since I did it 7 years ago. There is now a restriction on one car every 5 years.
They will want approved copies of every page of your passport, visa, purchase documents, uk rego etc etc. You can't ship until you get approval.
I would highly recommend getting the car valued because that saved me a heap.
Your shipping agent will want the Import duty and GST before they will release the car to you.
After you get temp rego and take car home, next step is obtaining compliance plate.
That is when you find out what needs to be done, guy came to my house for this.
The child restraint hooks are mandatory (but you can take them off later)
I'm guessing the intrusion bars are required too, I was lucky, already there.
After compliance comes roadworthy (MOT in UK). When you have that you go see VicRoads for registration, you can buy a number plate beforehand.
Total cost (without shipping) was $4200, but some time ago now.
Hope this helps
Good luck

The child restraint mounting points are welded or riveted onto the parcel shelf, you dont need the hook that bolts into it.

The compliancing fella I dealt with allowed a drilled hole in the parcel shelf with some substancial washers top and bottom. The hook kit I bought then bolted thru.
