Way back when I was a teenager, (pre-Mini) I think it was 6"... :lol:

it was... before minis came along it was 6" (~150mm), they dropped it for minis down to 4" (~100mm)

This is an old B&W photo of my very first car a 1963 997 Cooper, taken around 1964, it was lowered and in those days I don't think any one worried about what clearance they had. It was a daily driver for many years and I can only recall one or two instances where the ride height was an issue. Comfort well at 18 I guess that was not an issue.
