Personally I agree with you Doc, although I'ld prefer to MEGASQUIRT it! Ability to fuel inject at a later stage is quite simply adding extra external components!

However, when you replace the timing chain with a belt......then the timing becomes a lot more accurate. Only dizzy drive errors to account for.
In saying that, when you add up the expense of the entire megajolt /megasquirt project install on the car, this little effort can get away with the slack timing chain! Plus the fact it can only handle a spark event input!
I think the advantage of better cold starting, high energy ignition & ability to to "regraph" your dizzy for under $140 is pretty good bang for your buck!

Megajolt / Megasquirt is not for the faint hearted.
I have a megasquirt, fuel & ignition ready to install on a VL Calais Turbo......a 6 mth project on it's own just to handle the factory sensors.

Cheers Shane

I find timing belts good, I run one on each of my motors. But they are not for ham fisted mechanics- if you manage to burr the pulley teeth in any way when fitting or removing, it chews the belt up. Also they don't like oil leaks I'm told.
Belts don't last forever, Mini Mania recommends 20,000 miles for the stock Dayco/Pirelli ones- although I ran one 2x that far before I changed it, and the belt teeth still looked perfect. I currently run a Kevlar one on the 1360.

I've also machined the back of the dizzy mount flange to minimize the shaft endfloat. So with a modified curve Pulsar electronic dizzy, I have hardly any spark scatter.
