AND if you use the repro S/S ones, make sure you deburr the edges. Sharp as a razor and you will slice your little pinkies open.
Profile of these also leave something to be desired as well.
Do what John says and replate them.

I agree, the new ones usually need to be hand fitted, so the original ones are a better option as they fit a lot better.

The new ones don't come with the holes drilled in them, plus I think the steel is not as thick as the originals - I was disappointed with the chrome finish on the new ones when they arrived. I didn't have the choice to re-chrome though as the originals were falling apart.

If you spend some time rubbing back the exposed surfaces with 2000 grit wet and dry and then find a decent chroming place who will triple plate them (copper, nickel and then chrome - not just chrome onto the bare metal) then they will have an unbelievable shine and should last forever!
