I have a late clubby so it might be different but arent the reels mounted inside the rear bins out of the way?

That's only on the later Clubbies, not early ones or roundies.

@ womble99,
the bolts, spacers and washers should be available from people that sell seatbelts, or fit them.
Try Repco, or your local parts & accessories purveyor.
Or, an authorised seatbelt fitting station- if they have these in your state like NSW does.

how much effort would it be to convert static belts in a roundy to bin mounted retractables? re-inforced mounts? some sort of inspection / approval required?

It depends on how legal you want them :shock: If you can put them in the original location you are good to go, place them anywhere else then by rights you should have them engineered.
