I have had the same problem as GT mowog.
Stepped drum on the rear.
From memory the studs were a loose fit in the drum, letting it move around.
Centered the drum the best I could, using the two retaining screws to hold it in place.
Then put the wheel on and most of the shudder was gone.
That was about 18 months ago and it is still OK.

So after fixing all of the issues created by the previous owners I have played musical drums to find the 2 wobbly ones. I haven't been able to centre them enough to stop the shudder so I will order 2 new ones ASAP.

Are all drums equal or do some suppliers have better quality stock then others? The last lot came from Minisport SA.

I would buy them from either Karcraft, Minis Plus or Minisport SA, and if they are found defective when fitted, I would send the buggers back.

Yeah I agree with this.

Parts suppliers, small sole proprietor or large chain suppliers all buy their parts in good faith and sell them in good faith. If those supplied parts are not up to scratch or have an early failure rate then the supplier needs to know about it. Preferably in a non hostile carefully worded letter.

Unless they know, they will continue to source those sub-standard parts in good faith and also sell them in good faith.

At no point did I say that I thought a supplier had knowingly sold me dodgy parts. I was just trying to find out if I can increase the odds of getting a good set.

Sorry if you thought that was my implication - it wasn't !!!!

My point was that supplier have to know that the goods they are supplying are not up to scratch.

As for getting a good set that are perfectly round a good brake place should be able to check and possibly machine any drums you purchase before you fit them.

I am sorry If You thought I was suggesting You Did
I did not think or suggest that you Did, I just wanted to let you and others know that most of Us do care about the standard of parts we sell
Mike is a far better wordsmith than I am, And he put it far better than I did
Once again Sorry If I offended You Or You thought I was offended
The Reason I suggested Matt Is I Know he is one of the Good Guys

No worries, Mike and John. Wasn't really offended, just wanted to make sure I wasn't seen to be bagging out any supplier.

As a sole trader, that has seen a few quality Aussie made products move their manufacturing plants offshore only to see a significant decline in the products quality, I well understand the plight of suppliers.
