They are like hub caps, You do not have to have them, Some people like the look of the wheel better with the caps fitted, other people like the look of the wheel without the cap,

I think the replica caps are a bargain. (provided they do actually fit!)
A few years ago when the caps were unavailable there was someone on this forum making them out of brass and then getting them chrome plated and then getting stickers made... They looked fantastic but a lot hard work.

Was me:

Still lasting well I might ad. I suppose they should for how much they cost me!

Fantastic Job Did You use Brass or stainless

Hi John,

They are brass as it was quicker to machine and also won't rust. I talked to the chrome plater in town and he said that brass chromes really well. I also prefer the look of chrome over polished stainless. They just don't quite look the same.

The stickers are made out of UV resistant stuff too so still haven't faded. They are the only part that aren't quite right as I have seen pictures of Tasman centre caps that have the map of australia and the word 'Tasman' raised against the background of the centre cap. Too hard to do on a lathe and didn't want to pay for CNC machining.

They look fine just as they are, I wouldn't worry about originality - if you know they won't rust and the plating lasts then you're on to a winner. Good stuff.
