Yeah they would be fine. One criticism of the old standard Maniflow med bore LCB is the centre pipe's flange is never flat. They bend after welding and they ship them like that. If you don't ensure they are flat (by grinding or filing) before fitting, the gaskets burn out.
I bolt them (with the Y piece on) to an old head (no gasket) on the floor, and check around the flange with a .002" feeler. Grind/file until it won't go in anywhere.

Cast flanges (with the welds away from the flange) like the one in your link don't give this problem.

Location: Sydney - strangely, I am glad of the sight of hills!!
I have 1-7/8" to 2"muffler with 2" tailpipe. Fairly effective :D
