John I'm talking about the 5/8-18 UNF nut that screws onto the pipe on the bulkhead.

re the bag end connection, I am putting a 1/8 x 3/8 BSP brass nipple fitting into the bag, the fitting on the hose at that end will be 3/8 BSP with a Pirtek zinc coated crimp sleeve.
Like this. Ignore the fitting shown on the other end of this prototype hose, it is 3/8 BSP not 5/8 UNF like I want.

You won't see it anyway, as it's down inside the plastic tube-

Looks Good Kev, We do something similar but only if we can cut a small piece of the end of the hose, so that the end that connects to the hydro pipe remains the same,
For Us Anoraks
However Ours I think were a little taller and made it a bit harder to fit to the front.
Good Work Kev, What You are doing should save a lot of displacers from ending up in the scrap

Done 1, so I've got 7 more to do for our 2x `hydro vans'. :P
I'm using NEW Pirtek 500psi return line hose, because I care less about the pattern on the hose than its reliability. The top end will have the old (but re-plated) nuts and a crimped ferrule same as shown on the bottom connection.

The 45+ year old hoses I've removed from Deluxe & Mini K bags were all crumbly down near the crimp, I wouldn't trust them. Except for a trailer queen I guess.

The rear bags & helper springs are still original 1970 MiniMatic/Mini K.
The front bags are Clubby GT, because I swapped a whole GT front end into it 20 years ago. It sits pretty level for a hydro car.

It also has Pedders (same as Gabriel Red Ryder) front shocks, -1.5° bottom arms, and comp hydro rear bumpstops.
It handles pretty well, and soaks up all those bumps that a dry car doesn't. 8)

That makes them about 43 Years old, They are giving You great service.
Some times as You Know it is the metal fitting that gives out, Not the hose
and some times it is the hose, not the fitting, However the way You are fixing them
it matters Not if it is the hose or the Fitting 8)

Doc (or John) - I think I may have asked you this previously in a displacer discussion but did you ever find a supplier of suitable hose that matched the cross-hatched pattern of the original? I realise you don't care about originality for your own car but I would like to keep my cars as close to original as possible and I'm sure there are others who would like a concours look. I'm guessing it was made by Dunlop.

The bags were made and assembled by Dunlop in Sydney, in the factory that is now Birkenhead Point shopping centre.
The hose was Dunlop diamond, they made a large range of hoses here, but all gone now.
I've not had much luck finding the diamond hose, or the 5/8-18 UNF hose end nuts & tails either.
