'Its a wonder that Oz distributors haven't wizened up and lowered the retail here. Whether is $87 or $128 there is a 79% mark up at worst for $230."

The $87 is not delivered, the $128 is. Your choice.

That's all I have for this thread.

Delivery is epic from the UK. From Midlandwheels I paid $760 for 10x6 mambas, A008's fitted and balanced with chrome nuts. There was basically £200 just for freight. Still worked out cheaper than buying in Aus.
The Dunlops were hideously more expensive than Yoko 32's around new year

Awoody first put me onto Formula Rs a couple of years ago and I have an aging set on 5-1/2"s. i tried the Falkens at Wakefield and they weren't much good when compared with the Formula Rs which seemed to be better than I could imagine. I've since been told that the Dunlops are a waste of time which aligns with "not popular in UK".

Thanks Simon.

Comments please guys:?:

Prior to running Hoosiers, GR ran AO32R's to good effect for many rounds. I personally think they are fantastic tyres. I have not tracked it yet, maybe later this year.

Why buy japanese tyres from the UK when japan is closer and the exchange rate is better?. The first result on yahoo auctions for a032rs works out at $69 ea before you take out sales tax and the yahoo auctions markup.

Last time I sent something from japan it was $100 for 20kg via air mail so that gives you an idea of postage.

I haven't personally bought mini tires from japan but I will be when the time comes to it.

the Falkens are the bottom of the heap, A008's are a lot better, I run Dunlops in motorkhanas and they're awesome, used them on the road and loved them until they wore out after 5000km, never tried A032Rs

what was the context of the "waste of time" on the Dunlops? sure, they're waste of time for road use - any tyre will do the job if you don't break the law......

IMO the language barrier is the hardest part of buying from Japan.
I'm never quite sure how to buy off yahoo auctions.

One of the reasons I used the Dunlop tyres was that the car was not doing a lot of miles per year ,I knew that they wore fairly quickly and given that tyres are usually out of real grip after about 5 yrs I figured that if they wore out in that time I would be happy because I was getting good grip, whereas if I don't wear out the present tyres , A008's, in that time it seems like a waste to replace them with say half tread left on them even though they may be past there best. I have seen two beautifully restored cooper s,s crash because their owners thought just because there was plenty of tread left on the tyres ,and despite them being about 10 yrs old, they did not need replacing need less to say they replaced the tyres when they got the cars fixed

I looked at tyres while in Japan November 12 months ago - about same price as here and the hassle of transport.
