There are good and bad ways to do this, and these days as said above it would need to be engineered/mod plated to be legal on the road.

ah I see, thanks. would a mechanic be able to do this or would I have to get a structural engineer to do it? if so can anyone recommend any that are familiar with this?

stick with the speedo that's in it for now - you'll have plenty of more important things to spend money on

You'll need to double any expectation ;)

I had a running car with brand new paint job and interior.
Already sunk 5k+ to keep her on the road and endless hours in 12 months.

To be fair, I went all out on the engine and even put cooper s discs on the front. But.... Who would put stock components back on when you can pay a bit more for the good stuff!

sounds like a nice ride, have you found that there a lot of little things that you have to keep replacing and repairing?

Everything adds up. And they are never finished. Always something that needs replacing or you just want to upgrade for a bit more power.
PM me if you want some more noob insights

IMO Your best bet would be to start working towards a roadworthy car, don't go for expensive upgrades or brand new shiny bits and pieces just yet.
(1) I'd suggest you start in the cab, remove the front seats, pull the carpets out and inspect the floor pan. Once that's all good give it a coat of rust proofing paint or something, clean the carpets and then reinstall them and the front seats.
(2) Then work on the steering so you can move the car around easier.
(3) Then get the brakes working so it won't roll down a hill uncontrolled.
(4) Then you can work on the engine and clutch, get them working and you'll have a car you can sit in, steer, stop and drive.
Once that's all good then you can start looking at getting the dash and the rest of the interior all pretty because that's where you'll spend most of your time (hopefully) and just work out from their.
Breaking it down into little jobs will make it heaps easier.

Unless the brake cylinders are new or in very good condition then I would bin them.
New ones are $18 to $20 each so old ones are not worth the hassle.

Just keep installing the ones you have (if they are usable) and throw away the ones that leak. If they are in pieces already it's probably not worth rebuilding them so bin those ones but if they look proper just bung them in and see if they work. That way you get to find out what you have, you'll clean up your pile of parts and maybe save some cash.
If they all leak then at least you've learnt how to install, maintain and adjust drum brakes. :) .
