Well, what an exercise in frustration this has been. I gathered 10 phone numbers from the directory and started ringing around. First two were disconnected, next one the business had moved "about 15-20 years ago' but the phone people don't update the records", then there were the obligatory crap mobiles that you couldn't get a decent connection on and the ones where I was able to actually speak to someone had no idea what a subframe was. They don't have email or phone data so I couldn't even send pictures. The one and only person I managed to get any kind of a price out of said he charged $220 per hour which may not have been too bad considering it would only take about 15 minutes per frame (I'm guessing) but then he said he had a minimum call out of 1 hour and no premises where I could drop the frames to him. It really shouldn't be this hard!!

I then decided to get on my bike and ride over to Hastings on Harleys tip-off after a Google search offered me no hints and I found Eddy Batur Industrial Painting. I popped in and was told the cost would be between $80-$120 for the pair blasted with no paint - at last, a quote that actually came close to expectations. The only minor issue is that they said they were so busy that they couldn't give a date for when they could do it - just drop them off and they'd do them when they could.

I hope this isn't setting the precedent for how things are gonna be on this build, otherwise it could be a long, long job...

Remember, people can't do things yesterday if they're busy, they're obviously the cheapest place so everyone is going there..

I used Associated Grit Blasters in Edwardstown.
I'm more than happy with the outcome and the cost.

It's all pretty and clean and new. I'm more than happy to get stuff blasted there again!

I was very cautious of this whole process but the way parts go in dirty and come out clean like new is great. It gives me inspiration to start rebuilding the subframe straight away.

If you haven't got stuff blasted before try it, it'll save you time!
