Ahmet knows enough about these things to show the M206. That's a bit of cred. the N....P reference (above) is good - I recall these numbers from the early 1970s (didn't know the 76 was the year - live and learn - thx mini0998

)
The only other Royal Red on the register is car 727. Its close enough not to doubt it. 049/ 564 is as far apart as i'd heard of and Phill is the expert here advising on other posts about special orders sidelined so that's a benefit of the doubt ticked off.
My summary is that the plate is off the car,and the thing is the genuine article but very very sad. My 1970 had some poor parts and in 1991 I thought it was too far gone but rarity obliged me to keep the car (not sorry now!). So this one is reserectable. But with that dodgy engine number will need a mag particle or better x-ray to start some genealogy of the engine.
Whoever goes buying should be looking at all the engine casing IDs starting with the rear access covers etc - you'll know if you are gonig to buy it what to look for.
Safe to say this one is now, and wasn't captured on our register. We know have 392 Mk1s and 281 Mk2s. not even 10% of the Australian production. A long way to go...
