surely by the sequence of the factory numbers it can be worked out what year it was made?

Body number and car number sequences varied between models, that's why the 'anoraks' who have already responded are asking you to supply more information, or preferably photos. If the vehicle can be identified as a Deluxe or 850 or Mini Minor or Cooper, for example, that will help narrow things down.

The slang ending was somehow dropped from the url link Doc posted, presumably caused by the underscore or brackets. It did the same when I tried to post it.

To get to the correct entry navigate to it from the first line of the clothing anorak listing.

... or just read the following that I copied and pasted from the entry:

In British slang an anorak (pron.: /ˈænəræk/) is a person who has a very strong interest, perhaps obsessive, in niche subjects. This interest may be unacknowledged or not understood by the general public. The term is sometimes used synonymously with geek or nerd, the Japanese term otaku, albeit referring to different niches.

So Kev Where does this Put You and I? As we both
have a very strong interest, in niche subjects
all though I would not say we are obsessive

Getting back on track, had you followed any of Johns suggestions on how to date your mini?

Describe the shell accurately, any of the parts still attached (glass, locks) and and take measurements re: Johns suggestions.

If you're not willing to supply any more info then Wombles guess of 67 is your answer.

Judging from the body number I'm guessing it was built sometime between 1960 and 1978.....give or take a month or two

But don't take my word for it as I'm no expert

Mwahahahah :P

I can't believe with this attitude you've got even this far.

I'll go with Thomas... endearment or not. The bloke is trying to get you to drag the information out of him [deleted - apology]

My goodness I can't believe the aggressiveness in this thread.
I thought the original question was ok.
He has limited information to go from.
The word 'anorak' has been used in this forum before and taken in a good natured way.
How on earth does anybody get the idea that the OP is unappreciative?

Pragmatic - not aggresive (not my nature). The written word without expression can be misleading :)

I agree with MG Rocket, I think you all need to chill out. I wish I had never asked the question. In fact I don't really care what year it is. I am not bothered if it has the wrong widget fitted for that year or not. I was just curious. I like minis but they don't give me wet dreams. Get a life folks.

I am not sure if Your comments about aggressiveness is directed at Me
If so, Let Me point Out That I did offer help Using what little info may be avail.
And I do not think it is aggressive to ask what an Anorak is, Or to ask another member
If He or I would be an considered an Anorak. As I must say I have always believed it to be a Rain Coat,
I certainly did Not Think I was being aggressive, And did not intend to upset
anyone

No John your comments were not aggressive at all.
You were only helpful.:D
But I can understand your surprise with the word, not knowing the slang meaning of it. I had to google it once too.
