nope did not replace them YET but its on the list of many things to do, but when i do they will be new, not second hand, just like all the new brake components, half of which have already gone in, a new laminated windscreen. I also do not drive this particular car every day, which reduces the risk in my view.
But at least it was registered and had a pink slip, so the REPCO non original belts at least passed the annual visual inspection. More than can be said for other states who whinge about it. the car was registered when i bought it, and there are no indications of accident damage, but as already stated the belts have already been replaced by PO.
i was simply trying to point out that second hand belts from a wreckers are not a bargain, not good value, just simply silly. i don't think thats harsh at all. it is just like when buying a helmet, buy a $100 helmet if you have a $100 brain. i would say the same to anyone who thought buying retreaded tyres for cars was good value, its just stupid, because unlike some truck tyres and aircraft tyres the car ones are not designed to be retreaded, but they still get sold because it is not illegal to do so. most of the guys here drive their car every day, most are on a budget, but you have to pick the right things to save money on.
and besides i plan to kill my brain cells with alcohol over the rest of my long life, not by spearing through the windscreen
