Point to note on the Commodore, if it's an auto, make sure it has a transmission cooler, otherwise the transmission will overheat and spit its oil out and you'll be stuffed. Even with an empty tandem trailer they'll do that.

I agree if it is V6 Commodore. I've not had any dramas like that with my V8 Commodore and I have towed my car trailer from FNQ to SEQ and NSW a number of times.

The hire trailers from the servos tend to be very heavy. Whatever you decide to tow it with, make sure the tow bar is up to spec for total weight of trailer and load.

A mini on a car trailer should be okay behind a commodore just dont push to hard if your going up a lot of hills.
Pull over and let transmission cool if your worried.
The only time I ever had problem was in a falcon towing a landcruiser BJ42 without an extra cooler.
Burning smell and clouds of smoke from oil spitting out of auto breather onto the exhaust.
But i was pulling a 110 throught hills on way back from Sydney when it overheated.
Never had an issue pulling lighter cars.
Cheers Rob
