Also a caution: WD-40/wax&grease remover pretty much dissolves it haha

So if you have a Mini and it breaks down and you have to work on the engine and you touch the body of the car with a hand covered in WD-40/wax&grease, it just comes off??

:?

I love the look of the matt black Mini...

If a patch does come off, can you just spray 'touch ups'?

So you just paint this stuff straight over your paint. Regardless of any imperfections?

So would it stick and come off undercoat? ie a car thats been prepped but not painted?

Also if you change the colour of your car, do you need to let RTA/Insurance company know??

yes, if anything it would hide lighter scratches well, a mate of mine painted a bumper with quite deep stone chips & you couldnt tell they were there

as long as its clean it work fine & be easily removed without taking the undercoat/primer with it

id assume so, as your painting the car a different colour, all be it removable its still classed as a colour change

tinymorris1969 do you have any pictures during painting " like a panel half painted etc ? "

And would it be usable on your car seats , dash , inner roof ? or would it rub off

Cheers Bill

You do a whole panel at a time, you basically just build up coats and make it thick.

People use it in interiors, like on dash pieces especially in modern car with crappy fake plastic chrome which flakes and stuff but you wouldn't use it on something like seats and you wouldn't on the roof lining either, it's flexible, there's no worry there but with seats you'd peel it of from sliding in and out i reckon.

nice one. i might give that a go.
i have some ways of achieving this from home but what exactly did you use to get this done. Compressor and spray gun? ect. tools,. anything extra. just get the paint from bunnings ??
Looks great for a little bit of fun and something to try. not too many matte black minis getting around.

These guys have tonnes of videos for it. It will be much cheaper (and better) if you do it via compressor and gun, rather than rattle cans.

Give the bonnet a go if you want to test it out and see what you think

This thread on TheMiniForum.co.uk* put me off doing a whole car, but I want/have black bumpers and it sounds like a go.

* He may have applied it badly; hard to tell without seeing exactly what he did. It is a risk if you have reasonable paint already.

Yeah bit odd that he applied it over primer despite having a paint job underneath that was fine still? Then he used paint stripper when he was trying to get it off haha.

As i said demo it on bonnet or boot and try for yourself I guess, I'm not super into the full plastidipped cars either but it's a bit of fun to play around with.

yes i do, ill post them up so you can see the process done. i tested my bonnet out with this stuff for a month without a problem.

i would highly recommend not using a compressor and normal spray gun, buy a decent electronic one. i spoke to a supplier im using about it and she told me that professionals using compressors are having a harder time applying this stuff then a guy in the backyard with a electronic gun.

anyone in sydney if you want to see it in the flesh ill be going to the next get together next wednesday.
