What sits inside the metal channels on roof or on edges of glass?

I had a 1275LS with the same sunroof as they used on the sunshine.

Sorry will be hard to see detail. The rubber seal which pressed against the glass was hollow. When the button on the dash was pressed it applied vacuum to the seal (the engine needed to be running as there was a connection to the manifold) and it collapsed, this allowed the glass to slide. There was one way valve so the seal slowly returned to normal and helped hold the glass in the open position.

It was actually a very clever design and didn't leak, at least mine didnt. Was fantastic in summer.

Actually looking at the pics the repaired handle with the screws thru it reminds me of one of its downfalls. If you braked really hard, especially if the seal was not fully back to normal, the glass slammed shut damaging the handle.
