We're all talking early 850's, but where does that leave a '62 998 Cooper?

Should the light and flap be black/black, or chrome/bodycolour?

This is one of the early demonstration and press cars that shows the black panel and chrome light. The car pictured in the Morris 850 article in issue 5 of The Mini Experience also has a black panel and chrome light.

They should have a body colour flap and chrome light.

My 63 1071 has a black flap with chrome light, so I am not sure why a 66 English car has a black light?

I understand this car was the earliest 850 factory delivered car in Aust and it is still around. It sold again about ten years ago from memory.

I can recall Very well Two Mini 850 sedans in particular that I have owned, that had Black number plate flaps and Black Number Plate Lamps, They were Both 1960 Minis
and both also had the cardboard sort of centre speedo surround and the Very narrow nosed Windscreen wiper Motors and painted grilles, However I cannot tell You if they were CKD SKD or CBU units

Do you know if it is an Australian built car or imported? Based on information presented to date my assessment is that Australian cars used the chrome light, but always happy to be corrected if it can be proved otherwise.

Boink's 61 Mini is an imported Austin. A lovely car!
