What problem, before I put mine on historic recently it got a pink slip done every year no worries. They didn't plug anything into the car, the only technology was a Tapley meter they attached to the brake pedal then went for a drive.
Half the time they didn't even do this, the tester just disappeared out back and returned with the brake test data... :| Black magic...

I would be asking them , politely, to put that in writing - and advise them that you are on your way to the local RTA (or whatever its called these days).

In the past I have driven off refusing to pay while suggesting that they might like to meet me at the local police station to discuss it. ..They were refusing to pass my early Corolla, claiming it was "too short" while referring to a book that was at least 10 years newer than the car...

They didn't accept the offer.

Cheers, Ian

I remember when I got the MGs blue slip there was a bit of trouble with getting the brake machine thingo to
work properly.
The following year for the pink slip, I went to a guy who has a weighbridge/braking pad built into the floor.
Which was a good idea because it detected a difference in the balance of the rear drums.
They were good guys and let me spend a bit of time and a few tests to get them right.

The problem is that some places will not do older cars because they know we look after them and they wont get any work out of us, like oh  it needs two tires two ball joints and a wheel alignment, plus your grease nipples are the wrong colour :x

Hi All

Just been trying to book my 65 mini in for its annual inspection and have been told by several garages they cant inspect it as its too old !

Its its first one since I have had so I dont have a regular guy i can take it to.

Its there any law in NSW that states that any garage authorised for RTA inspections has to inspect any car? Iam now at a loss where to take it as no one I call wants to touch it.

thanks

I've never had an issue with ANY of my old cars (1956 - 1974).
unless your car is in a bad way, it sounds like they just don't wanna do the job.

Considering they never saw the car. I think they just didn't want to do it.

In NSW most vehicles are now on the electronic online pink slip system. Historic plated cars require the Inspection station to fill out the old "pink slip" book. Some of the places will tell you they don't have a book, however by law, they are required to have a book anyway, in case the electronic online system goes down...............like that would ever happen............
