One feeds in from the fuel tanks to share out through the hose, and the other is a vent I think.

I'm stuck for the moment till I work a few things out.
I need to find who stocks the adaptors to turn a swinging needle into a solid needle, and I will need to drop into Goulburn for a cup of coffee as well (thanks Mick ;) )

But the carbs are rebuilt now and ready to go, so that's the most work.

I picked up the float bowl from Morris 1100 yesterday, thanks Michael.

I gave it the treatment in te glass bead blaster and after a good clean fitted it onto the carburetor.
The carbs have a brass emissions port to draw in crankcase fumes, but I have elected to keep the PCV fitted for no reason other than aesthetics. I think they look good in there.... I will get a couple of small rubber caps for the emmissions ports on the SUs.

Nothing to do now but to wait for my Manifold gasket to arrive...I forgot to order one earlier...

Ha ha, nevermind!

I ordered them from Minsport SA on Friday...
Should be here in a couple of days.

Thanks Morris

On their way now. I decided now that the rellies have shuffled on I might give the 1.5s a go on the car.

I'm short of a piece of 1/4" bundy tube to make a fuel cross connect with, so will finish them off tomorrow.
I've picked up a pair of cone filters for the moment until I get around to modifying the trashed twin SU airbox I have here.

Thanks Boo, everyone has their thing. I like engine bays...

I've completed the fit out today with the creation of a fuel cross feed. I picked up a meter of 3/16 (inside diameter, 1/4 outside) bundy tube from ABS Brakes. Unfortunately it is the green plated variety, but I don't mind that much. I bent it up with the aid of a pipe bender, and fashioned a anti vibration saddle from some flat ribbon I have handy in the shed.

Image

The pipe fitted up nicely, and nothing leaked once the pump was started.

I used a pair of Colortunes to set the carburetor mixtures, this didn't take very long at all. The carbs were first matched for airflow at idle, then the mixtures were matched. I revisited the idle settings, and then the mixtures as well. Once I was happy, the carb linkages were adjusted and locked in place, and that was about it. The idle beat is perfect, like there was no change. I took it for a test drive this evening up the mountain range out the back of my place, and it sure is a very sweet setup. I'm very pleased with the results. I have a standing mile up the mountain range I like to race up, its pretty steep but smooth, so no outrageous speeds, but I know how the car behaves and everything felt much stronger. I love the new twins.

Now I'm keen to pick up a pair of carby snouts, and modify the airbox I've been promising to do. :) Next time.

By the way , what needles are you running ? My carbs have AAB needles in them .

I asked Doug (Winnabbee) what needles were fitted to the Police Coopers and fitted those. They're static CP4 needles.

I will have a look around and play with a few other needles once I have an idea of how these are behaving. How did you arrive at the AAB needles?

I had CP4 needles in Barney's twin HS4s for a bit, but got a flatter A/F ratio curve using #6 instead. Filters were Ramflos with Unifilter foam.

The #6 looks just that little bit leaner across the range. What was Barney's specs Doc?
