The people you meet. Old guys who used to own one, chicks who think the mini is cute, and the comrades who also try to get/keep one on the road.

Only problem is that chicks dig em until they realize how much of your life you dedicate to the mini.

I have heard that can be somewhat cured by letting her drive one full time.
Well until it breaks down on her anyway. :D

For me cute, :D
handling,
it's little (I love little cars), :D
I can do a fair bit of the work myself and I can understand most of what is going on under the hood,
preservation of mini motoring history in my own small way. 8)
the uniqueness of the mini (minis were the first or among the first to do quite a few things) :D
the fact that the mini was the most successful car at bathurst and bathurst is holy ground for V8 fans (I think this might bother them if they knew and proves it doesn't have to be big to go fast), :P
the fact that the mini was designed as a nice sedate economical car but it actually was very capable otherwise without that really being a design feature. 8)
Oh did I mention CUTE :D

I think I could keep going all day, well maybe not but... :D

The chicks dig 'em big time!!! :D :D :D

Only downside is that random people (usually old people) come up and give you the "I used to have one of these (cooper s ofcourse  ) - life story - blah blah blah...etc. Happens the most when I seem to be in a hurry :x

When you own a mini everyone asks 'Is that a Cooper S?' and then want to chat for ages
The old people always love to come up and talk to you and say how cute it is
The bestest best thing is they are sooooo easy to park (when reverse works properly that is  )

All the above, plus more or less anything you do to the motor makes it go faster.

Japanese cars are generally too complex for a home mechanic to make any better, and where's the fun in that?

The Mini is an iconic car, in the league of E-types, MG roadsters, Rolls Royce, Morrie Thou and so on.
