mazda MX5 seats are great - near perfect really - reasonably hard but comfy and very supportive and the'll fit in a mini no probs.

I was gonna buy a pair for $200 in Trading Post but then got the Cobra Cub \ Speedweel type. They're ok too - but more expensive.

Subaru B4 Liberty 99 seats are a treat
Same deal flatten the front mounts and I used sq box section for the rear

They are narrow so fit nicely, come with electrics and look a treat

What's the law on fixing aftermarket/other model seats to a clubby? A mini specialist (Lindsay Siebler) gave us a RWC talk last week at the Vic mini club meeting and said (i'm sure) that post 70s minis, such as clubbies, need to have seats that used the original seat mounts to be legal. I have escort seats bolted in mine with plates etc, was told by a mini place they should be fine, but am a bit concerned now that they are illegal.
They are certainly better mounted than the orginal ones!
Should I put normal clubby ones back in or do I have to get these escort ones engineered?
Any ideas?

cheers
jon

I'lll probably have a set of honda seats (grey) for sale soon. (couple of weeks). I'm refitting the clubman seats. They (the honda seats) seem to be in good nick.

My girlfriend finds them comfortable, but unfortunately they are not working for me :-(

Obviously, I have an oddly shaped back, as I also find the stock landrover seats comfortable.

cheers

p.s they cost $150 for the pair.....perfect condition

I worked in a Honda dealer (16 years ago) and had to do a quote on two Prelude seats in a 12V car that had been stolen, for an insurance company. We could not buy them as an assembly so had to add up all the bits and then they were worth over $1500.00 EACH !!! It was cheaper to put two Recaros in it which they did.

When I spoke to another "Mini specialist" last week he said the same thing. If they aren't mounted to the original seat mounts, they must be engineered, in NSW anyways, don't know if that applies to all states.
