Don't forget the Gerringong Street parade Ryan, that was on their calendar too..
I was talking to the plate registrar at the Christmas Picnic, because I thought I'd have to change lots of things on my car to get it onto the historic plates. He didn't have any issues with my car at all. He is a lot more relaxed than the last inspector... If you look at the MCCNSW link you'll see a mini in matte black with green stripes, no chrome on the front either (belongs to someone on here?), so they aren't worried about the right nuts and part no.s on everything like they might have been in the past
Hi.
I own the black Mini in question and apart from the paint it's a pretty much standard Mini K

. Clause 4.1 of the Club plate scheme reads as follows:-
- Colour of the car and engine can be any reasonable colour. However, no 'Kandy', metalflake or Chameleon paintwork will be accepted. Sub-frames and suspension components are to be dark colour. Discretion will be with the Historic Plate Inspector.
I have 3 (soon to be 4 Minis) on Historic plates with the MCCNSW. It's a wonderful scheme which allows me to keep multiple cars on the road at a reduced rego rate. As stated insurance is also reduced for historic rego'd cars.
There are more than enough events listed through the club which would allow me to use my cars every weekend if I wished. Clause 3.1 states :-
- Vehicles may be used to attend any event listed in the MCCNSW magazine, the MCCNSW website or the Council of Motor Clubs calendar.
Events of interest state wide are listed in the magazine along with the Minis in the Gong and Sydney Minis events. All the major ACT events are covered as well. You can even drive your Mini to Watto's GDO in Melbourne as a group of us did in 2012.
You can also be a member of multiple car clubs and use your club plated car on events listed with them as well.
As with anything this scheme works for some and not others.
