Looking at my gearboxes..
Mk1 Cooper S = 22G333 = 12FA16380
Mk2 Cooper S = 22G1128 = FAXe4348
Mini K = 22G1128 = 5249
Mini 1100 = 22G1128 = 22/3170
Morris 1100 = 22G68 = B54016
Late Rod-change = DAM2886

It seems obvious that the Cooper S of both types have a special serial number related to the Cooper S.
How many "matching number" Cooper S still have their original cases?
The F could to be related to the F in the Cooper S engine number.
The A could mean remote shift like it does in the engine number codes.
The 12 in the Mk1 would mean 1275 as opposed to the 1071 and 970.
The Xe in the Mk2 could be related to the XE in the engine number.

The Mini K box and the Mini 1100 boxes share the same case as the Mk2 Cooper S.
The serial number is different between these two because of the addition of the 22/ prefix on one of these boxes.
I don't know if the "22" means direct shift or remote shift.
Brentons one has a prefix code of 30, these prefixes interest me!

The Morris 1100 box has a B in front of the gearbox serial number. This motor has a B on the end of the engine number and it refers to Borg Warner gears that were used. The 54016 serial number is related to the production number, the car is #531** and the engine is 539**.

The DAM2886 box came with my 1275LS but I think it was actually a new late Moke box that had been fitted sometime between 78 and 84.

Anyone with boxes laying around want to add the serial numbers to the mess?
