If so, Yes I had to do this, it worked fine with the lead solder filling the slight gap difference without a problem.

The gills per inch are lower on the new ones, but did not prove to be a problem on the 998 it went onto.

The cowling screws are larger metric metal thread screws. They really stand out on the front side if you are doing a resto, but are really strong at the same time. You won't strip the captive nut out easily.

Be careful with the length of these short M6 screws, some new rads don't include them. If you fit some that are too long, tata new radiator core...

Its just not the same top tank. I'll pull mine out if you want it and mail it down.

Jim - second-hand ones are around so surely you should be able to find a good one as basis for repair. I have a spare but need to check what condition the one in my blue car is before letting it go. Put up a wanted advert and see what you find. :)

Yes, thats what I meant. Recoring an original radiator costs much more than many of the new replacement radiators do to buy. However it should be relatively straightforward to fit the original top tank to a new one to maintain the appearance of the original radiator. But only if the available ones are any good.

That's because you are COOL Simon!! Thanks and I will take Mick up on his offer and go from there. I might need you for the next favour Simon! I think my engine rebuild is going to open a can of worms, I can see the whole car getting stripped down soon. Cheers all.

Okay, thanks, that sounds good. Good to support a mini man where possible. Cheers.

I got my original MK1 850 radiator re-cored from Blacktown Radiators.
Was given advice that like the original cores made from copper, they are much better.
So the shop had a place make one up, refit, weld a leak in top tank and paint... $800.
