I've found a truck spares shop to be a good, cheap place to buy the deep socket ones for the ball joints. They normally have good stocks of the big sized ones

Cheapest place I've found is VG Auto Paints in Girraween. They stock KC tools. I got a 35mm 6 point impact one there for $20.50. :D For my son's Jeep Cherokee hubs.
That's cheaper than any price I found on the web and no postage needed.

Deep sockets were not much dearer.

I now use a 3/4" drive socket. I found I was bending and breaking 1/2" drive breaker bars on some pinion nuts done up by gorillas with BIG rattle guns.

The 3/4 drive one can stand an 8ft scaffold pipe extension with me on the end of it. 8)
