I had clearance problems on my car (1970 Matic) so I sold it and fitted a Minispares one. The GR one definitely flows better if you can fit it. But I was not prepared to fit a Weber box or run it with no filter.
I fitted a 20mm spacer to the Minispares manifold and then ported it and the manifold entry out a bit.

Was there much in it? I don't want a weber box either. I am prepared to make small alterations though.

The only roundy I've seen one fit OK in with a filter & no mods (had a K&N filter too) was Greig Malaure's GF's 1430 Matic. This is because Matic motors (with auto) sit 20mm further forward than manuals, so there is more room.

GR Manifold won't fit a Mini without modifications to the manifold (machined it so it kinks up higher) and the Mini body. I also use an offset MED filter. I guess if you need to fit a weber box why not run a weber.
PS. My mini was a matic too

I won't be fitting a weber box. There will be a way somehow I'm sure. Gain a few mm's here and a few there. I'm sure a bit of firewall manipulation will be required but I would like to run the oval dash. See what happens when it gets here I guess.

Manifold arrived and bolted it on to see how it fits. Pretty good really.

I removed the waxstat bit and pinched a static jet bit off a 1 1/2 carby I had. Does anyone know if they are the same?
I will make a small recess in the firewall for some extra clearance but I'm really happy with the fit so far.

The jet holder is the same, but the HS6 jet is .100", not .090" like the HS4 jet is.
All the HS6 needles are bigger, it will run bloody rich if you bung an HS2/HS4 one in!

I have made a bit of clearance but was wondering if anyone knows how much the jet holder moves down when the choke is on?

I have 10mm behind and 22mm below. Hope its enough.

The problem is, under power the torque reaction moves the top of the motor back. I doubt 10mm room is enough, unless you have a remote box..
22mm clear below should be OK for the choke.

I do have a remote box. I was going to fit that minispares engine mount kit (MSSK1300) on the thermostat side. I think they run tie rod bushes dont they. Would that stiffen it enough to not move much?

As long as you have a good rear mount on the remote (bracket pushed forward, hard up against the housing) IMO you won't need the steady bar near the radiator. It does sfa with a remote fitted, except add vibes to the body.
Mine hardly moves and I have somewhere north of 125HP at the crank.
